January 2010 Team Update

The Major Atom Too team came back from holidays to participate in the London Gold Medal tournament in early January. Obviously, the rest paid off, as the team posted their first victory of the season in Friday night’s game against Kingsville Class. Saturday was not as successful in the “win” column, however, the girls continue to improve each game that they play and remain positive and upbeat regardless of each game’s outcome!

The team has been working hard at practices each week; effort that will continue towards the OBAs in late March. One thing that’s being proven each practice night is that this is the happiest team in Ontario! Thirteen girls have come together from different grade schools and different parts of the Twin Cities and are truly becoming a “team”!

On January 23rd , our team hosted a “friendly” with Blessed Sacrament (Hamilton) and Niagara Thunder teams participating. Three games plus a very spirited skills competition proved to be a very successful event for all of the participants. Special thanks to Mike Cox, Ed Treciokas and numerous players’ siblings on the score table who made this a very special day for everyone.

December 2009 Team Update

The Major Atom Too team officially kicked off their season on December 10th, 2009, when they hosted an exhibition game against the Milton Stags. They fought hard but lost to the Stags 33-23. Scorers included Sasha Simine with 8 points, Julia Cox with 5 points, and 5 players with 2 points each.

The "Too" team also participated in the Burlington Skyhawks tournament on December 11th & 12th. The girls came up against some pretty tough competition playing against some of the highest ranked teams in the Province and came up 0-3 in the tournament. Our scorers included Milica Koprivica (6), Julia Cox (4), Mai Be (4), Olivia Naylor (2), Nicole Treciokas (2), Anne Collins (21), Kiera Grein (1), Shannon Rendall (1) and Natalia Mylinski (1). Player of the game awards went to Julia Cox (2 games) and Natalia Mylinski (1 game). Great job!
