KW-LIGHTNING COACHING CLINICS

KW Lightning is pleased to offer the following coaching clinics in the coming year:

Level 2 Theory (Comp Intro Part B): Oct 17-18, 2010
This will be the last time this course will be needed for Ontario Basketball certification as the Level 2 delivery system will change to the "integrated" formate similar Level 1.

The NEW Level 2: Nov 19-21, 2010
This will be one of the first courses to roll out anywhere in Ontario and as you can see it is a 2 1/2 day training session combining the old "Part B" theory materials and the new Canadian Sport For Life Basketball Development technical materials. (Note: All coaches who have completed their old Level 2 training will maintain it as long as the Level 2 Practical Application has been fulfilled for full certification.)

Level 1: Feb 12-13, 2011
This is the Introduction to Competition - Basketball course, the first level of NCCP training that is required for all new coaches.

LIGHTNING JUNIORS ARE PROVINCIAL CHAMPS!

The KW Lightning Junior #1 team had a spectacular weekend May 7-9, 2010 by winning the gold medal in Division 1 at the Ontario Cup. The 4th-seeded squad beat #5 seed Kanata 57-54 in OT to advance from pool play with a 3-0 record. In the semifinal, the girls shocked the Ontario basketball community by beating #1 seed Blessed Sacrament 66-65 in an overtime shootout thriller! In the final, the girls won a hard fought 42-37 slugfest vs #3 seed Ajax Advantage. An unbelievable season (31-4) came to a dramatic conclusion. The coaches, parents and supporters of the team and organization are so proud of the team!!!

The Junior #2 team, coached by Allan Bush, recorded its own upset Friday night by beating the second-ranked Sultans to finish 2-1 in the tournament, not bad for a 15th-ranked team. The two junior teams went 7-1 in the top divison of girls basketball in Ontario.

The Juvenile team, coached by Brian Henry, also did great by winning a silver medal on the Ontario Cup.

Special thanks to Roy and Marti Dahl and their team of volunteers for organizing and hosting two great OBA weekends!
