NO SKILLS SESSIONS FEB 28 OR MAR 7 The skills sessions held on Sundays at the University of Waterloo are canceled for February 28 and March 7.

MAY KOTSOPOULOS IS A FINALIST! May Kotsopoulos, former KW Lightning player, is a finalist for the America East Women's Basketball Fans' Choice Player of the Year. Please take a few minutes to click this link and vote for her!   The University of Vermont Catamounts, May's team, are getting set to defend their America East Women's Basketball title. On the line is a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. May is in her senior year at UVM and currently leads the America East in scoring, averaging 18 points a game. May is known as the 'engine that drives the Catamounts'. She is also a former Defensive Player of the Year recipient and the two (2) time defending America East Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year. JUNIOR WINS GOLD! Congratulations to KW Junior #1 win for winning the gold medal on February 7 at our own tournament! The team is 16-1 so far this year.

DISCOUNT TORONTO RAPTORS TICKETS! The Toronto Raptors are offering KW Lightning supporters the opportunity to purchase tickets for select February games at a 35% discount. Please refer to the KW LIghtning Raptor Discount poster for all the details. This is also a fundraiser for the club, so be sure to tell all your friends about it! (If you want to purchase tickets, your best bet is to contact the person mentioned on the poster, as the online site doesn't give you much in the way of seat selection.)

SKILLS SESSIONS FOR GRADES 7-12 KW Lightning players from grades 7 to 12 who are serious about improving their skills and want to play at the next level are invited to attend the Warrior-Lightning Skill Sessions held each Sunday from January to March 2010. The sessions are led by Tyler Slip, head coach of the University of Waterloo women's basketball team, with help from some of the assistant coaches and players. The sessions are designed to teach the details and skills of playing basketball the right way. Sessions are being held on January 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7, 14, 21, 28; and March 7, 14, 21 and 28. Juniors — grades 7, 8 and 9 — are from 9:00 to 10:30 am. Seniors — grades 10, 11 and 12 — are from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. All sessions are held in the main gym at the Physical Activities Complex (PAC) on the main campus of the University of Waterloo. KW LIGHTNING GIRLS AT OFSAA 2009 Congratulations to KCI for their 4th place finish at AAA OFSSA and WCI for winning the Consolation championship at AAAA OFSSA.

KW LIGHTNING REPRESENTED AT EVERY LEVEL OF OFSAA 2009 GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS Lightning Laura Burnett( Rockway Flames) is  at the girls single-A basketball championship in Simcoe. Lightning Janine DeLeon (Guelph Bishop Mac) is at AA in Belleville.  Lightning Rachel Urosevic, Skye Johns, Kate MacTavish, Carly McCrory and Claire Lockhart (KCI Raiders) are at the triple-A event in London and Lightning Shelby Kurt, Megan Fowler, Alyssa Shortt, Bria Dietrich, Carly Tithecott, Lindsay Lessard and Lindsay Taylor (WCI Vikings) are at the quad-A tourney in Hamilton.  We wish all teams well.
